Hi, I am Jonathan. Currently, I’m a senior high school student at Walter Payton College Preparatory. My dream is to change the world with the use of the latest technology. With knowledge of computer science technology, nothing is impossible and I strive to make an impact on the world - whether it is raising awareness about the powers of computer science, or impacting research in different fields with the use of technology.
Ever since I was young, I have always taken a liking to computers. I spent most of my time throughout elementary school coding in Scratch, a drag and drop programming language for beginners. When I was 13, I used Scratch to write a program that allows devices to detect motion to turn music pages while a person is playing an instrument. I self-studied Python, Java and C++ and received Java and Python Hackerrank certificates when I was in 7th grade. By 8th grade, I used Java to utilize libraries and APIs to create stock-predicting bots and also create a chat bot. Shortly after, I found out about competitive programming; a much more formidable version of competitive math that requires knowledge of advanced math topics and advanced algorithmic knowledge and problem solving. Ever since then, I have been working towards my goal of becoming a grandmaster at coding and reaching the highest level of USACO (United States of America Computing Olympiad). I was promoted to USACO Gold with score rank #1 among all pre-college participants at the end of 2022. Since 9th grade, I have been studying all of the math classes that are prerequisites for AI at MIT Opencourseware.
In my spare time, I like to teach younger kids math and programing. I am currently volunteering in a not-for-profit organization dedicating to empowering youth to help and inspire youth. Like Steve Jobs said "Everyone in this country should learn how to program because it teaches you how to think." I would like to pass my passion and interests in math and programing to younger kids.
Inspired by my 2022 summer internship experience, I started AUTOBOTTIX in the summer of 2022. During this internship, I wrote multiple programs that fully automated labor intensive manual tasks. I was amazed to see how my coding skills can really help people to improve their job’s accuracy and efficiency. Tasks that took hours have been shortened to 30% of the time needed and tasks that used to be performed by multiple people only require one person. I decided to help more small businesses that struggle with labor cost and daily tedious tasks. Please refer to my Previous Projects page for details about the automation programs I wrote.

Jonathan is an innovative leader-- he designed our math club curriculum and helped optimize and automate the operation of our volunteer team. He is also a great teacher, as he empowered a lot of students with his online coding classes even during the pandemic. Recently, he initiated self-study courses in our organization to equip students with the essential skill of exploration and discovery on their own terms. Jonathan has been and still is a unique and valuable asset to our community, and I am grateful to continue working with him.
